RE: Oatmeal Strikes Back

It is such a satisfying feeling to be able to help older folks. I myself am 63 and fast approaching being one of the older folks but I still get a really good feeling being able to help someone when needed. I have even gone out of my way, insisted they let me do it (sometimes over objections that they can do it just fine) just so they don't have to. I am a firm believer that it is our responsibility, as the younger generation, to look after our senior citizens when the need arises. I just wish I had confidence that the generation younger than us would do the same for us, but I am afraid they do not have the same sense of respect for the older generations that we have. It is a shame. Fortunately, I am certain I have taught my children to correctly respect their elders. I hope others of our generation have done the same.

RE: Critters

I have been lucky, no mice BUT I did have fire ants get in my motorhome. They built their mound up to one of the mud flaps behind the tires and then entered the motorhome. Talk about a battle, those little buggers fight back hard. I sprayed them with several things before they started dying. They are tough. I have the battle scars to prove it. Mice, no problem. Give me mice any day but fire ants, they can and are a REAL problem. LOL......... Enjoy.

RE: Can RV's boondock at the Iowa 80 Truck Stop?

I can't think of why not. I assume you are just going to stay over night. Should not be a problem. Just do not dump anything there, trash or otherwise. LOL>...

RE: Anyone had a "Full Replacement" loss on and RV

I had Progressive when my 37 ft KZ toy hauler burned to the ground. I managed to hang the fold down TV antenna on a power line where I stored it and cut through the insulation causing a fire right by the A/C unit. It went up in less than an hour. The fire department could not put it out for a long time. Two firefighters got over whelmed with smoke. Flames were shooting 10 feet out of the top. I was sick. I got the full original paid price plus $2000. on contents. I was pleased except on the contents. I wish I had bought more. I decided to go with a motorhome and pull a trailer. I am glad I did. It is so much more convenient.

RE: Tow/haul mode

When I towed a trailer with my Dodge Dually I used tow/haul to get up to speed (around 55 to 60mph) and would switch it off. I got the best mileage that way and once up to speed the engine/tranny was as smooth as silk. When I hit hills, back to tow/haul and everything was dandy. Like said above, drive it like you want to but without using tow/haul to get things rolling you will probably damage your transmission in the long run.

HR Endeavor LE Inverter Install Advice Needed

I have a Prosine 2.0 inverter left over from a previous trailer that I would like to install in my 1996 HR Endeavor LE. What makes this a challeng is that the transfer switch is one the driver side of the coach and the house batteries are on the opposite side of the coach. To make it worse, the compartment above the coach batteries is too small to hold the inverter. The instructions on the inverter say to install it as close to the batteries as possible. The compartment with the transfer switch has plenty of room for the installation but is a long way from the house batteries. Any advice from HR owners as to the installation would be GREATLY appreciated. I have struggled with this long enough. Time to ask the experts on this forum. My brain hurts......

RE: New Class A owner

Being a new Class A owner I faced some of the same issues. Here is what I did: 1. Bought a window cleaning tool that telescopes from CW. Put Rainx on my windshield when I cleaned it. 2. Made 4 platforms out of 1/2 inch plywood, glued them together at cross grain, put drywall screws into them, put an eyelet bolt into one end of each, threaded a rope in between each set of 2. Works for me. 3. Got a small step at Wally World that helps with the first step into the motorhome. 4. Do a search on here for PDI Lists. There are a ton of them that apply to any purchase.

RE: Front wheel wobble when stopping

Just as I suspected. Thanks for the input. I will get it checked as soon as possible before I drive it again.

Front wheel wobble when stopping

When stopping from high speed coming off the interstate I get a lot of front wheel wobble. Does this mean I have some steering arm problems that need to be checked out? It is kind of scary and seems like it should not be wobbling like it is. Any advice would be appreciated.

RE: Prodigy P3 Brake Controller

JFG - Thanks for the information. Did they indicate which wiring harness to use. I have found some for Ford, Chevy and Dodge, etc.

Prodigy P3 Brake Controller

I want to install a Prodigy P3 brake controller in my bus (see signature) so I can tow a trailer with brakes. Does anyone know if there is a connector directly into the wiring harness that gets a brake controller wire and others activated at the back of the bus? I think it is a blue wire. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Tow Wiring Question

Thanks yet again guys. I am probably going to replace the rectangle connection with a round, install a prodigy and wire it into the round plug so I have active brakes on the trailer. Thanks for all the advice.

RE: Tow Wiring Question

Thanks Fred. Would I be so lucky to find a plug into the wiring harness for the Prodigy to activate the brake controller pins on the rear plug in? That sure would make installation a breeze. Please advise.

Tow Wiring Question

I recently purchased a Holiday Rambler Endeaver LE diesel pusher. I want to tow a trailer with electric brakes. There is already a plug in wired into the motorhome wiring by the bumper hitch receiver. It is a rectrangle 6 pole plugin. My question is if anyone knows if this is a standard plugin factory installed and if it might be wired to handle electric brakes on what ever is towed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Strategies for buying used

I recently bought the motorhome in my signature from PPL. Paying cash, I got a very good price. Being to see, checkout, compare and drive multiple motorhomes was extremely helpful in making a decision. The experience gave me a chance to determine the layout and options I liked the best. I am extremely pleased with my choice. It is amazing how reasonable you can get a good used top of the line motorhome these days. I agree with most of the above about cash is king, etc. but there is no substitute for being able to test drive several choices to see how they handle. Good luck on your search. Be careful, salesmen are the same everywhere and you must be very demanding to get what you want for a fair price. Let them know you can see through their sales talk, insist on what you feel is a fair price and remember, it is your money not theirs, get what YOU want.

RE: Friendly people in Texas

We Texans are taught hospitality from grade 1. It is just our way. Welcome to everyone from all Texans. We just wish the rest of the world could get along like we do here.

RE: Power Chips??

I agree with Ironbutt above. You can see I also have a Dodge with the Predator chip from my signature. I pull a 5th wheel and saw an amazing difference towing. Mine was about $350. but the results were 4-5 mpg increase in mileage towing or not. The power difference is definitely noticable. I recommend the Predator to all my friends. Many have installed it and ALL are thrilled with it's performance increases.
